Football season is upon us! Any advice for low sodium snack foods?
michelle37 asked:
I’m looking for low-sodium, low-potassium versions of football snack favorites. I’m preparing these for a young man with severe heart problems and needs to limit his sodium intake to a very small amount. I don’t want him to feel like he’s missing out on everything he used to enjoy eating and doing, so i’m trying to keep game days as close to normal as possible. Any suggestions, recipes, tips, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Ki-bobs prepared at home and veggies trays can be fun. Try home making mini pizzas with very little cheese add veggies instead of meat. Also many snack food company’s now make salt free snacks.

I like to make a snack mix with raisins and peanuts. You can get un-salted peanuts. I also like those semi-sweet chocolate morsels mixed with peanuts. You will need to check the levels of potassium and sodium, but these are both family favorites when watching the Eagles blow yet another game, sucking defeat out of the hands of victory…
