What football position should i play in highschool?

Greg V asked:

I am male, 14 years old, 5 foot 9 inches tall, about 138 pounds, and want to try out for my highschool football team when the school year starts in sept. I am sort of slow in running but i have been jogging at least 4 times a week and over the summer plan to run 7 times a week. My catching skills are above average but not great, that skill i am also working on frequntly. I lift weights about 5 times a week but plan to join a gym soon to get better results. Since i am not fast i dont plan to be a wide reciever or a running back. I am actually hoping to become a tight end or a linebacker if i become big enough. I do need your opinion though on what i should try out for and what i should work on. Remember im slow, good, but not great, catching, and i am pretty good at getting around defenders. PLEASE HELP
I am also fairly good at tackling an i have never sustained any serious injurys. I also know a lot of the rules of football.

First of all, you should not be jogging that much. Sprints are the way to go, although a long run once a week is good for your cardio. Just make sure you do your research to get a good workout routine and diet, and if you have any trouble with this, just e-mail me and I’ll send you some sources.
But, anyway, see what happens after this summer. If you get really fast, but not that big and strong, you could be a DB or a Receiver. If you get really strong, but not really fast, maybe a defensive end, and if you get pretty strong and pretty fast, I think linebacker is for you.
