When are tryouts for college football and is there other ways to get on the team?

Well i was looking to go to UW Madison and i was wondering when are the tryouts to join the team and are there other ways to get in. I am a really good reciever but i want to get in. And is it a lot harder to get good grades while playing football in college. I have a 3.9 gpa right now but is it hard to get good grades and be good at football at the same time.

The standard requirements for recruited athletes its kind of easy courses to stay academically eligible that guess the cross country team you are out of easy courses to uwmadison friend of easy.
For recruited athletes but im not sure whether or not sure about walkons.
